1. Local-First Architecture

Midown is built with a local-first philosophy. Your markdown files, system architectures, and knowledge graphs reside locally on your device. We do not transmit your documents, diagrams, or private notes to our servers.

2. Data We Collect

When you use Midown, we only collect the minimum amount of data necessary to provide our services:

Account Information: If you register for an account or purchase a license, we collect your email address and payment status.
Usage Analytics: We may collect anonymized, aggregated telemetry data (such as app version and OS) to help us identify bugs and improve performance. This can be disabled in settings.

3. AI Features & MCP

Midown integrates with AI models to assist you.

In-App AI: Prompts and relevant context you explicitly choose to process via in-app AI features may be sent to our AI providers. These providers do not use your data to train their models.
MCP Integration: When using the Model Context Protocol (MCP) to connect Midown with IDEs like VS Code, data exchange happens locally or directly between your IDE and your chosen AI provider according to your IDE's privacy policy. Midown acts only as the data provider.

4. Third-Party Services

We use secure third-party services for payment processing (e.g., Stripe). We do not store your full credit card information on our servers.
